SYNCMyPhone

Hands-free phone regulations have been popping up a lot lately- with good reason. Still, no matter how you look at it, blue-tooth technologies don’t take the whole dialing aspect out of the picture.

Sure some phones come with voice recognition, but apparently I’ve never enunciated properly. I remember checking out my friend’s OnStar feature and trying to call home. The number has a lot of “sixes,” but the car kept hearing “seven.” Can you say frustrating?

Anyhow, Ford’s made this problem disappear by developing the SYNCMyPhone application. The app is part of Ford’s awesome SYNC technology and it lets the driver sync up his or her car with sever address books. You just log onto your computer, take your address book (whether it’s your cell phone’s, outlook, etc.) and upload it to the car’s SYNC system through the USB port. When it comes time to make the call, you tell the app which contact to call rather than each number.

Some lucky Ford customers have already tested the feature in Beta and really like it. I think Ford’s got a great idea here. I’m sure there are plenty of people that will appreciate just saying, “Call home” rather than fighting with the robot voice behind the dash.
