Ready and Charged: Nissan’s 2010 Electric Car

Japanese manufacturer Nissan GT presented its first entirely electric car on August 2,2009, check out the site at www.nissan-zeroemission.com. The Electric Vehicle (EV-02) has been an integral part of Nissan’s main research and development program, in terms of zero-emission vehicle production.
Nissan executives, who have long been involved in the development of more environment-friendly motors, explained the EV-02 is propelled by advanced technology lithium batteries. These batteries, compact and laminated, are placed under the vehicle’s floor, thereby keeping them from interfering with compartment and passenger space.
Based on the "Cube" model, which has recently increased in popularity with Japanese automobile drivers and is now beginning to be sold in the United States, the EV-02 can recharge 80% of its battery in about 26 minutes, and is the precursor to the fully electrical vehicle Nissan would like to sell towards the tail end of 2010.
Moreover, this more recent vehicle generation includes a front traction design, a converter, and a 102 horse-power motor. It is estimated that one will only spend $0.04 per mile to maintain the EV-02 charged, which is good news for consumers facing constantly rising gas prices.
Nissan has also just confirmed its agreement to build a vehicle recharging network in Arizona. This agreement allows the creation of a charging station strip that will be perfectly equipped to address the expected demand for electric vehicle recharge facilities.
Nissan has a long history of experience within the realm of electric vehicle development that began with the first EV, Tama Electrical Vehicle, in 1947.
