Ducatti Streetfighter - The Italian Stallion

Ducati's newest Streetfighter and Streetfighter S motorcycles combine the beauty and power of Italian engineering with an eye towards minimalist design and weight reduction. It weighs in at 373 lbs (368 lbs for the S-model) and pumps out 155 horsepower giving it the highest power to weigh ratio in its class. The 1098cc L-twin engine provides outrageous torque while the redesigned frame provides added stability by incorporating a longer wheelbase than its Superbike cousin, the 1098. Additionally, a cross mounted steering damper adds to the bike's stability. Brembo monobloc calipers provide ultimate stopping power without sacrificing feel. The S model comes with Dual Traction Control and Ohlins shocks for the ultimate in rider performance. This is the first Ducati motorcycle to offer traction control out-of-the-box.
While the streetfighter uses the same engine as the 1098 superbike and an almost entirely identical frame, the styling is all about urban assault. The more upright seating position makes for easier maneuverability on the streets. The double shotgun style exhaust pipes on the side of the bike let pedestrians and drivers alike know you're coming. Much of the styling of the 1098 Superbike has found its way into the Streetfighter's persona while still giving it a completely unique look. A more streamlined switchgear sports a new "trigger catch" that slides down to cover the starter button when the kill switch is activated.
Because Ducati's latest motorcycle is such a unique blend of style and power, the Streetfighter takes some getting used to, but once the short learning curve is overcome the bike starts to come together beautifully. Marc Potter of Motorcyclenews.com magazine says, "Ducati has managed to build a cross between a giant supermoto with most of the performance of a superbike which is exactly right for the changing world of motorcycling."
